Located in Jiangbei District of Chongqing, Chongqing Grand Theatre is a large-scale social and cultural facility integrating opera, drama, concert performance, cultural and artistic exchanges and multi-functionality. The project will form a new symbol and landmark of Chongqing's urban social civilization. It plays an important role and significance in shaping the image of the city, improving the city's cultural taste and urban function, enhancing the city's attractiveness and radiation, and enriching the cultural life of the masses.

The theater is conveniently located in the CBD of Jiangbeizui, adjacent to the Chongqing Science and Technology Museum. There is Metro Line 6 and the Qiansimen Bridge connecting Jiefangbei Central Business District and Hongyadong Scenic Area.

In January 2019, it was announced by the China Construction Industry Association as “100 Classic Projects for 40 Years of Reform and Opening up”
